As the days, weeks & months pass by; I am forever reminded & thinking of my children. My son, who in a few weeks goes to college & begins his journey into manhood.
My daughter, who in a few weeks embarks upon her journey in high school.
All the while, I reflect upon my life, illnesses, joys, triumphs, failures, successes & the memorable good times I have had being their father!
I am completely saddened at this moment because of the situation that has brought some distance in my family. During these milestones, we should be celebrating; yet, life has not seen fit for this to happen. I hold on to faith & hope that things will begin to manifest in our collective lives that bring about the truth of my love for my children.
Whenever Daddy says "I Love You" it is not a flippant statement made to be taken lightly; it is a reflection, a look into the soul of a man who TRULY & without hesitation loves with no pre-conceived notions, conditions or limitations. My children are growing up & I feel as though I am an outsider in their teenage lives; a stranger or passerby looking through the proverbial "glass darkly"!
I can only pray that in due time, my teenagers will KNOW the meaning of a father's love & appreciate that love as purely as it is meant!
